All Wendals Herbs contain only natural herbs with no artificial or prohibited substances as defined by the FEI and Jockey Club.  Some natural herbs have beneficial effects which may be detectable as prohibited substances.  Wendals Herbs advises customers to check with the governing body for their equine discipline for all prohibited substances, including herbs.  Often alternatives to specific herbs may be available.  We have listed the herbs contained in each blend for your convenience.

General Blends:

Calmer

The original blend proven to be the most effective product available for many thousands of horses.  Recommended for nervous and excitable horses such as competition or race horses, ponies and horses prone to wood chewing or cribbing.  Feeding Calmer complements the performance of the horse.  It can help reduce nervous energy that may be wasted in the preliminaries or through traveling.

Ingredients: Chamomile, Dandelion, Garlic, Hops, Lemon Balm, Lime Tree Flowers, Red Poppy, Thyme and Vervain.   We also produce a Special Calmer mix.

Easy Mover

One of the most popular blends.  Good all-around blend for horses who suffer from poor movement and general wear and tear.  Promotes blood supply to the joints, and is routinely used in hard working horses to help reduce inflammation and fluid retention.

Ingredients: Burdock Root, Celery Seed, Goldenrod, Nettles and Seaweed.   Please also see our Special Easy Mover mix.

Respiration

This blend naturally soothes and assists in the management of the respiratory system and helps allow the natural discharge of mucus.  Equally successful for long term or seasonal problems.

Ingredients: Fennel Seed, Garlic, Liquorice, Nettles, Oregano and Thyme.   Please also see our Special Respiration blend for more pronounced respiratory problems.

Mares are well-known for their occasional moods and behavioural problems, which are often related to their estrus cycle.  These herbs are formulated to help horses relieve tension and overcome PMS blues.  A relaxed mare will be more attentive and concentrate on the task at hand. 25 Kilo size available by special order.

Ingredients: Alfalfa, Basil, Chamomile, Dandelion, Goldenrod, Marigold, Rosemary and Vervain.

Weight Gain

Combination of herbs to help the body maintain condition and help stimulate appetite.  For use on competition horses where maintaining condition could be a problem.

Ingredients: Alfalfa, Basil, Fenugreek Seed, Goldenrod, Meadowsweet, Mint and Oregano.

Booster

Helpful for recovering or lethargic horses.  General tonic that helps support the horse's natural resistance.

Ingredients: Burdock Root, Celery Seed, Dandelion, Echinacea, Garlic, Mint, Nettles, Rosehips and Thyme.

Farriers Blend

Blended to help strengthen hooves, promote growth and stimulate blood flow to the feet. For horses with cracked, broken or chipped hooves, horses who are shod regularly, trotting horses, older horses and horses with white hooves.

Ingredients: Cleavers, Garlic, Nettles, Rosehips and Seaweed.

Stop Itch

Used throughout the world where different climates often cause irritations.  Formulated to assist in cleansing blood, soothing irritation, and maintaining healthy skin and coat.

Old Timer

When horses age they require a good balance of vitamins and minerals.  Sometimes they can have restricted movement because of old injuries. Also, appetite and digestion problems are not uncommon in the older horse.  Formulated to assist with the all-around well-being of the older horse

Ingredients: Dandelion, Fenugreek Seed, Garlic, Marshmallow Root, Mint, Nettles, Oregano, Seaweed and Thyme.

Growing Up

Specially developed to assist in promoting good bone growth and general body development in rapidly growing young horses.  Begin giving to foals as soon as they are eating solids.  Generally used for the first 2 years, but benefits may be seen for up to 4 years of age.

Laminix

Formulated to help blood flow and assist in seasonal maintenance for healthy feet.  Use for horses and ponies with laminitis.

Mare Cycle

Designed to assist with hormone imbalance and help regulate the mare's estrus cycle.  An ideal natural supplement to feed to mares during the breeding season to help ensure that their reproductive system is in good working order.  Also used with success to improve hormonal behavior in geldings.

Mare Care

Ideal blend for helping prepare and repair the foaling and lactating mare.  Specially formulated mixture for the broodmare which combines a number of herbs that are recognized for their beneficial qualities, including raspberry leaves.  Helps ease birth, reduce birth time and cleanse more quickly. An ideal blend for the foaling and lactating mare that is regularly used with great results by a large number of studs. Should be fed at least one month before and one month after foaling. DO NOT USE DURING EARLY PREGNANCY.

Ingredients: Balm, Basil, Chamomile, Fenugreek Seed, Garlic, Nettles, Raspberry Leaves and Seaweed.

Showtime

Helps horses look their best - in alertness and appearance.  Produces healthy coat, condition and shine for that special occasion.

Loosen Up

Effective for soothing and loosening muscles.  Assists in balancing the needs of the strenuous work horse (competition, long distance, endurance).  Helps with muscular disorder problems.

Winner

Formulated to assist with appetite, blood flow and general bodily functions for all-around well-being.  Ideal for eventers, racehorses, show jumpers, trotters, endurance horses, hunters, reining horses, cutting and barrel horses.

It's Easy Mover - with added Meadowsweet, Parsley and Devils Claw Root to help maintain mobility.  Normally only required in extreme cases.  NOT FOR USE IN PREGNANT MARES.

Special Respiration

A finer ground variation of our standard Respiration mix.  Horses tend to inhale more of the mix while eating, thus improving the natural discharge of mucus and further soothing the respiratory system.  Good blend for "heaves".
